Our country is under multiple safety threats because of the complicated international situation. The traditional and nontraditional safety threats are increasing which requires our military should be capable of dealing multiple military missions. Military Operations Other Than War(MOOTW) is premised on the basis of ensuring the capability for the core military mission. It is a specific form and an important part of the multiple military missions. MOOTW is the main part of our multiple military mission during the peacetime. Its aim is safeguarding national security and developing interests. Our research on the MOOTW starts late, lacking systematization and comprehensiveness. Pressing publicity of MOOTW is generally considered into the research of the political work. It is an important part of our political work. Pressing publicity carries the responsibility for publicizing our Party's policies and good image of our army. In recent years, our army has jointed more and more MOOTW missions, including disaster rescuing, anti-terrorist and maintaining stability and international peace. Our military image has been publicizing by the media and become better during the MOOTW missions, making our army more influential. All of those comes with the effort made by the media people.On the basis of explaining the theory of the new media and MOOTW, this paper discussed the relationship and interplay between them. It Analyzed the current press publicity of MOOTW at home and abroad, exploring the successful experience and current problems of our press publicity of MOOTW by comparing the United States of America. This paper analyzed the solution for these problems on the reality of our army. It also explored a rule for the press publicity of MOOTW and reaction strategies on the aspect of public opinion and public relations in crisis.
