The Democracy Weekly,which was found in Shanghai after the War of Resistance against Japan,The founders were Zheng Zhenduo and Xu Boxin et al. The Democracy Weekly,The Weekly,The Digest,were known as three democratic publications at that time.From appear to disappear,the Democracy Weekly existed only about one year,There were many articles which were worthy of studying.Currently, the studys of it are rare,there is no systematic research of it.This paper attempts to analyze the newspaper,relying on photocopies and electronic versions collected before,using the method of literature analysis.The content of this paper covering the analyzing of the historical background of its publication, the revival of the democratic ideals after the victory of the war,its relationship with the China Association for Promoting Democracy,other democratic publications at that time,its founder and editors, the founding process,main content and its influence and its historical function.The Democracy Weekly were born in a special historical period,China was in a short period of peace after the War of Resistance against Japan,in that time,people desired democracy.In that circumstance,the contents of the Democracy Weekly included calling for democratic politics,resolute attitude against civil war,the report of the patriotic movement,advocating freedom of expression and freedom of the press.As a Democracy weekly, It dared to expose malpractices,speak for the people,leaving a large number of excellent articles,although it existed only a short time, there is a significant research value for studying it.
