The development history of human is a history progress of pursuing freedom.Freedom of the press is put forward in detail by Marx and is regarded as the premise of the other kinds of freedom. To understand Marx’s theory better and use it to guide our country’s publishing career, it is particularly important to study Marx’s freedom of the press.The generation of Marx’s freedom of press, is influenced by the tradition of western freedom theory and the modern times freedom thought. The personal experience and political realities during Rheinische Zeitung, German-French Annals, Neue Rheinische Zeitung lead to the generation of Marx’s freedom of the press. Marx’s freedom of the press mainly includes the constraint to press freedom of check the books,press freedom is the spirit privilege of human,press freedom should reject industries alienation and press freedom need the safeguard of law. Affinity to the people, sociality, universality, dialecticness, ect characteristics can be concluded in Marx’s freedom of the press.Marx’s freedom of press can be comprehend in depth in the following several aspects:The theoretical foundation of Marx’s freedom of the press is human nature view;The thought foundation of Marx’s freedom of the press is social material relation; The goal of Marx’s freedom of the press is liberation of mankind.These interpret is benefit for seizing essential thought of Marx’s freedom of the press. In modern society, Marx’s freedom of the press still maintains a strong vitality. Therefore,in inherting affinity to the people, advocating occupational moral, insisting critical function and pushing the business of constructing the socialism with Chinese characteristic, inspires the development of press industry in China.
