This work focuses on the People's Daily's news comment about environmental issues. It applies the discourse theory of Norman Fairclough and Teun A. Van Dijk to the news comment from both aspects of text and context. It analyses the news comment from a variety of perspectives of phrase, syntax, rhetoric, discourse type, context construction and so on. It probes into the relation between the changes of environmental news comment discourse and social context. So as to reveal the transformation of main media's opinions. As for the text's aspect, this work focuses on the phrase, syntax, rhetoric and demonstration. This study finds out that news comment from People's Daily appears to worship legality and democracy. The frequent usage of questions reveals the transformation from spokesman to speaker. Its rhetoric tends to be conservative, scientific and objective, hence the technique of antithesis and quotation are frequently used. And in the context's aspect, this work mainly analyses the discourse of People's Daily under multiple circumstances. The usage of specific term "APEC blue" reveals that People's Daily does well in dealing with the challenges from new media through the application of network catchwords. In this way it is being able to propagate its politics opinion effectively. In addition, People's Daily has changed from the passive reporting to the active one, from reporting only what is good to predicting the future risk. Such changes would not happen without the improvement of democracy, the deterioration of ecological environment and the rise of network we-media.
