With the development of telecommunication network and Internet network in recent years, people are increasingly high demand for network switching rate. Switch is the key device of network switching, and the capacity of switching and single port switching is increasing.According to the joint project undertaken by the lab, this paper designs a single level Crossbar structure based on CICQ(input and crosspoint queued combined). The switching unit support IEEE 1588 protocol and 4-way bus inputs and outputs, each bus mounts four ports, the four port use the VOQ(virtual output queue virtual output queue)queuing method. This switching unit supports 16 input ports and 16 output ports.Firstly, this paper introduces the structure of network switching, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of different network switching.Secondly this paper analyzes the background and technology of Crossbar switching network, gives the design scheme of CICQ based on Crossbar, thirdly, this paper gives the design and analysis about packet processing and queue management module. Finally, the design is verified by Model Sim simulation software and Zedboard device.
