Recently netted radar has become a hot topic in the radar field, which can improve the performance owing to the spatial diversity of target scattering. Netted radar often consists of multiple radars with different operation modes, and can provide a considerable performance improvement through cooperation between radar sites. In this thesis, based on track initiation algorithms for single radar, track initiation algorithms for netted radar are presented. Moreover, a spatial registration algorithm is proposed based on a grid partition method from the viewpoint of engineering application. The background and current research situation of netted radar are discussed, the main contents and overall framework are described, and then the research of this subject is introduced from the following four parts:1.Traditional track initiation algorithms for single radar are introduced. The categories, ideas and specific steps of traditional track initiation algorithms are mainly introduced in this part, and the simulation experiments are presented for the described algorithms to evaluate the track initiation performance.2. A track initiation algorithm for single radar based on Doppler information is proposed. On the basis of traditional track initiation algorithms, the association region is reduced by using the Doppler information available in radars with coherent accumulation. The number of false measurements falling in the association region is decreased. Simulation results indicate that, the probability of target track initiation is improved, and meanwhile the number of false tracks are decreased.3. A cooperative track initiation algorithm for netted radar based on location guidance information from another radar node is proposed. This algorithm utilizes target location information provided by a radar that have already initiated a target track. For signals falling in the predicted region, the detection threshold is reduced for a higher detection performance. Numerical results indicate that, the probability of target track initiation for netted radar is improved, whereas the probability of false track is maintained.4. A spatial registration algorithm for netted radar is proposed, which divides the surveillance area into several grids and then accomplish registration operation by sampling echoes at the center of one grid for each radar in the network, with a factor to control the energy loss. Numerical results indicate that, the spatial registration process can be realized with no energy loss with a proper factor. Finally, the overall content of the thesis is summarized systematically, and some future works is discussed.
