With the development of information technology, especially the transmission of multimedia real-time data needs, people requirements on convenience and speed are also getting higher and higher, and the study of data transmission mode is also need to broaden. IEEE1394 bus technology is proposed to deal with this situation and obtained the rapid development in the practical application. As an industry standard for high-speed serial bus, IEEE1394 standard is first used in multimedia applications. In fact, in the video consumer electronics field, IEEE1394 has become a standard of connecting, and is widely used in digital cameras, digital cameras and TVset-top boxes.This thesis studies on the ports of physical layer chip conforming to the IEEE1394 protocol, is a sub-module of IEEE1394 PHY chip. As an interface of interconnection between different IEEE1394 devices, the port part is the underlying implement of IEEE1394 protocol. It's function mainly includes the startup of port connection, node state management, the trainsmit of data and control signal, the generate and analyze of PHY packet, etc. The port module responsibles for the data trainsmitted between the link layer and the bus interface, and forwards the received data to another connected ports. The main work of this thesis is based on IEEE1394-2008 protocol standards, designed out the Port Startup Control Module and verification the correctness of it's function. Make a overview of the IEEE1394 protocol architecture first, analyzed the functional requirements of the port, and on this basis, the design of port starting control module is carried out. The Port Startup Control Module mainly includes connect detection, speed detection and negotiation, port synchronization and loop testing, ect. The working principle, working process and implementation method of above parts are described detailly in the thesis. Secondly, in order to verify the design of the Port Startup Control Module clearly and easily, a port monitoring module is designed in this thesis. In this port monitoring module, it proposes a system which can quickly identify bus information, monitor and control bus. The system mainly include two functions, signal acquisition and encouraging injection. Through signal acquisition, the key signal is collected and the monitoring of the connection process is realized. By the encouraging injector, sends control information to the corresponding control module, can realize the control of the port. This module can monitor and control the state of the port in the connection, make up the deficiency of the existing test equipment, and simplify the design of the testcase.By the early virtual platform simulation and post-analysis of the data for a large number of monitoring results, the Port Startup Control Module designed in this thesis can achieve the starting process of the port from disconnected to connection, the main functions of the beta mode node such as port connect, speed negotiation, port synchronous, loop test etc. are obey the IEEE1394 Protocol. The port can transmit data at S800, S400 and S200, has certain reference signigicance and pratical value for research IEEE1394 chip.
