1394Serial Bus,also known as Fire Wire, is a kind of high-speed bus for real-timetransmission. With the development of information technology, the traditionaltransmission equipments can hardly satisfy people’s needs. The advent of IEEE1394standard fills the gap in a way. Except for its high-speed,1394serial bus has features ofhot swapping,Plug-and-Play,etc. These characteristics make it widely used inelectronics and other fields.The design in this dissertation accords with IEEE1394standard. The design andimplementation of the port for IEEE1394physical layer was studied. The port is thedigital circuit for connections between nodes in1394serial bus. The port designed inthis dissertation includes three main modules, known as startup controller, transmitterand receiver, and only the connection and data transmission in Beta mode werediscussed. Firstly, in this dissertation, the IEEE1394protocol and the structure of thephysical layer were described. Secondly, the functions of each module in the port forphysical layer were analyzed, according to which the RTL codes were compiled, withemphasis on the implementation of state machines. Finally, the verification forfunctions of the port was performed.
