As stepping into depth of aerospace exploration, the requirement to the real-time transmission ability of onboard equipments, especially these phototypesetting payloads, is increasing, which results to that the first generation data bus onboard whose rate is lower can't meet the requirement of transferring real-time data on the future satellite.IEEE1394 bus has been recommended for onboard high-speed data bus by NASA. As senior version of 1394 bus, IEEE1394b bus not only has these advantages of IEEE1394 bus but also increases the speed and distance of transmission greatly. Due to this, 1394b bus has been paid more attention on from aerospace, aviation and military hardware field of the world. So it is significant to research on space application of 1394b bus.Base on the sufficient research, this thesis made a study of communication protocol and topology structure of 1394b bus, mastered the software and hardware design technique of 1394b bus terminal and developed functional prototype of 1394b bus terminal. In addition, some research on 1394a bus was included. There were five parts concretely.(1) Research on and compare kinds of onboard high-speed bus presently, and focus on the advantages of 1394b bus.(2) Research on IEEE1394a bus and IEEE1394b bus, and emphases on improvements of 1394b bus on 1394a bus including referee method, data encryption method, bus topology structure, then, introduce a new topology and analyze the failure mode.(3) Design the interface equipment of 1394b bus. To meet the requirement of high-reliable field such as aerospace and military industry, develop the duplication redundancy backup functional prototype of embedded onboard 1394b bus terminal.(4) Construct a simple data net of 1394b bus and test the transmission performance of functional prototype. The result is according with expected target value.(5) Design the interface circuit between IEEE1394a bus and three embedded processor, which has been applied for patent.The work tested and verified the excellent performance of 1394b which laid the groundwork for mastering the key technologies roundly and had applied and referenced value. Besides, the results of the thesis made good exploration on the 1394b bus application in space craft and were developmental and referential.
