Recently, the mobile communication is developing rapidly, and the capacity of the network increasing fast. With the in-depth revolution in the communication field, the competition for the mobile communication market rises more and more drastically. The quality of the network has been the key to occupy and control the mobile communication market. It is the final purpose of the network optimization that the network runs in best state, in order to gain most.The dropped call is one of the most important reasons making mobile users unsatisfactory, and even complain. The mobile users are detached from the network in the area where dropped calls happen seriously. At the moment, there is less and less effective on decreasing the number of calls dropped by a single technique of the network optimization. It has been a common topic among mobile communication operators and manufacturers that improving and evaluating the network by synthesized different techniques. In this paper, it studies on different dropped call causations and related solutions.Combining with the author's practice in the mobile communication optimization, this paper analysis on the dropped calls of Tianjin's network. It shows the reasons about dropped calls from different aspects, such as signals processes, radio links and solutions and so on. It displays a complete analysis and solution.Firstly, it introduces the basic conception and the development of the mobile communication. And it analyzes the current mobile communication situation, the importance of the network optimization and the dropped call study. Then it shows the conception and the program of the network optimization, and also shows common problems and solutions during the optimization. And then in the terms of signal processes and radio propagations, it deeply analyzes the causations of dropped mobile calls, such as frequency interference, systems' parameters, fault in the hardware, antennas, fault in the transport and repeaters. And it takes the topical examples of dropped calls in practice to show how to define and analyze the causations of dropped calls on the terms of interference including repeaters and frequency and CDMA tailing interference, power unbalance, island effect, handover parameters, and fault in hardware. And it also gives the relative solutions.Any way, solutions of dropped calls is a topic in the network optimization forever, with development of GSM network. It is very important to have the knowledge of signal processes, principle of the system, and the network parameters, in order to resolve dropped calls. The methods in this paper can instruct engineers to solve problems of dropped calls, and improve efficiency and mobile users' satisfactory, and improve the quality of the network and system stability.
