With the development of the medical image technology,more and more advanced medical image documentation equipment had used in the disease diagnosis.We can catch the image of different human tissue,and each image has special information about human body.In our study of medical image processing,if we want to achieve the most efficient information about the disease,the things we should do must be combine the different kind of disease image.The technology of medical image fusion can cut down the disadvantage of each image,and make the doctor diagnosis more convenience.However,we need the better fusion algorithm.The paper introduce the background and meaning of the medical image fusion first,and how the technology develops.Then overview the steps of the fusion,the algorithm of the fusion and evaluation methodology.And the most important,we introduce the basic image fusion algorithm based on the DCT(Discrete Cosine Transformation).And the best fusion result was chose for the experiment analysis next paragraph.In the next paragraph,we recommend the improved edition of the DCT algorithm,and this method plays good role on the fusion of multi-focus image,and we use it on the medical image fusion works.But in the experiment analysis,we find the disadvantage of the block effect.For overcome this,we suppose a new method about combine the GC and DCT,and we consider about the smooth texture about the image,and gain the better result.Most fusion method result the gray-scale image,so we provide a false-color method to realize the color fusion result.Because the human eyes can catch more information from the colorful image.So,the new method gives more effective disease information to the doctor,and make the disease diagnosis better and more sensitively reflect.And we use experiment to prove this thesis.
