This dissertation is first concerned with the character for infrared (IR) and low-level-light (LLI) image, then focused on the research about image registration and color fusion for these two type of night vision images. Better arithmetic and hardware realization are expected in the research. Image processing box of MATLAB is used in the experiment to make the simulation analysis for the matching and fusion arithmetic for the IR and LLI images of the same scene, a variety of arithmetic are tested and compared, and finally the arithmetic in favor of hardware realization are selected. The FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and Max+plus II software developed by Altera company is used to design, synthesize, and simulate the arithmetic. EDA tool software PROTEL 99SE are used to design the circuit diagram and draw the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) for the carrier of the design.
