Recently, with the rapid development of modern economy and the continuous improvement of the level of human's life, the average life is growing, and the birth rate has also declined, which has led many countries to step into the aging stage, health problems of the elderly have become an attention of the social problems. Since there is no obvious sign on many diseases before the onset, which is likely to cause the elderly can't carry on a timely diagnosis and treatment. Maybe just these cause the people to be depraved or dead. Therefore, there is a great significance on a long-term and continuous monitoring on the physiological parameters of the elderly.The system discussed in this thesis has functions of information collection and transmission for elderly monitoring. Taking pulse information collection for example, the thesis discusses the design of data acquisition systems, and discusses the information transmission from acquisition module to coordinator by using power line technology. The system designed consists of several data acquisition modules and a coordinator. Pulse data acquisition module includes HK-2000A sensor, STC11F04 SCM and power lines MODEM ST7538. The coordinator centering to SCM STC11F04 is connected to power line MODEM chip and BAN gateway respectively via two serial ports. Thus, when the elderly physiological parameter information is collected from each sensor, it will be sent to the slave station, the SCM simply processes data and sends the information to the coordinator through power lines MODEM, and ultimately the information is transmitted to the server through the BAN gateway, and used by the elderly monitoring.This thesis describes the background of the project, status and significance of the subject, and gives the thesis structure, and then introduces the technologies used in the system. According to the system requirement, the thesis gives the overall design of the system structure. Then, the thesis divides the system hardware into several sections, and discusses the design and implementation of the system hardware, after that, describes the implementation process in detail. Then, the thesis introduces the programming language and development environment for the system, discusses the design and implementation of the software in detail combining with flow chart; finally, the thesis gives the system test process and summarizes the work done and look forward to the future work.
