Li Na is a milestone in the Chinese sports history. Her distinguished records in the two Grand Slam Events have impressed the world and aroused the inner enthusiasm towards the nation of Chinese people. Meanwhile, the construction of her personal image in sport reports has become a new business card of a rising China.Based on the theory of constructivism, the research has selected the most representative and professional sports newspaper "China Sports Daily" and "China Youth Daily" as the research text. And the study object is based on the period of 2011 Australian Tennis Open and 2013 French Tennis Open Championships. Our research has analyzed the heroic narrative mode of Li Na's reports. And found that it positively construct our national identification through fact construction, myth construction and ideological construction. The construction of national identity is not only an important political function of Li Na reports, but also an important political function of reports to major sports events. At the same time, this study also found out that when sport reports positively building the national identity, it began to show a tendency of self-orientalism. On the one hand, the tendency of self- orientalism forced our national identity; on the other hand, it also obscured our national identity. However, it also demonstrate us a more tolerate and realistic national identity.
