In industrial production, we often need to focus on the speed and torque value of shaft machines. Both of these data is an important indicator to determine whether mechanical equipment work properly. The real-time checking of the speed and torque of the machine is good for improving product quality and production efficiency. In the field of speed and torque measurement, electro-magnetic sensor due to their non-contact and wear-free, anti-jamming characteristics that has been widely used.Because of good prospect of electro-magnetic torque sensor, its related technology is studied in this paper. Structure and working principle of magnetoelectric torque sensor is analyzed and researched. 3D model of the sensor is established by using Ansoft Maxwell, its specific working process is emulated and the output signal is analyzed. Optimization design of the tooth and coil position is put forward, which has advantages of reducing starting voltage and improving output signal of sensor.Secondly, a torque meter based on single chip microcomputer is designed. The measurements of torque, rotational speed of mechanical shaft equivalent will be displayed by the meter with the help of single chip microcomputer, after the electromotive force is amplified. Itcan also transmit data wirelessly to other devices via the ZigBee module.Meanwhile, the torque meter has characteristic of practical and low-cost.
