The applications of torque online measurement technique are needed in the auto-control of procedure in production, the detecting of power characteristic and output of engine, and determination of transmission efficiency of mechanical equipment.In this paper, contraposing the shortcomings of other torque sensors a kind of strain gauge high-precision torque instrument is designed and developed, which has simple structure and high stability. The total paper is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, the domestic and overseas study status of torque sensor is firstly induced. Then, a discussion is done among all kinds of measuring methods of torque .At last, the technical indicators of instrument is given.In the succedent two chapters, the principle of strain gauge torque instrument is firstly analyzed and researched .Then the proportional relations between torque input of torque sensor and voltage output .At last, the research and calculation of every mechanical part of strain gauge torque measuring instrument are done in detail. In the fourth chapter, the circuit design of strain gauge torque instrument is expatiated in detail. In this circuit, the V/F converter and amplifier circuit are pivotal parts. Then the power circuit is designed .At last, with analysis of experiment data the relation of power output and transmission efficiency of transformer is researched in detail.In the fifth chapter, the reasons which influence the measuring precision of strain gauge torque instrument are researched and discussed. Then some general knowledge for circuit which should be noticed and several method of improving circuit stability are given. In the aspect of sensor mechanical structure design ,with the analysis of working status of sensor axis , the research of the influence of bending moment on torque measurement procedure is discussed, and a method of reducing error is given. At last with processing of experiment data from torqueinstrument, the error and precision are calculated.
