Literacy teaching,especially for the junior stage in primary school,plays an essential role of primary language teaching.As “Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard(2011 edition)” pointed out,“literacy serves as the basis of reading and writing,the key points of junior stage,and also the significant part of language teaching throughout the stage of compulsory education.” Hence,the way to improve the literacy teaching for the junior stage has become a vital issue for language teaching in primary school throughout our country.With methods of documentary and empirical,this paper first systemizes the related theory of literacy teaching,upon which carries out a survey on the present situation of literacy teaching,reasons and strategies for the junior stage in primary school through Nanchang urban area.According to the questionnaires from students and parents,and the interview for teachers,there are three main problems waiting to be solved.Firstly,students’ lack of interest in literacy leads to their timidity for character;Secondly,students’ incomprehension for connotation creates amount of wrongly written characters;Thirdly,teachers’ deficiency of literacy teaching theory and comprehensive quality.On account of the above problems,this paper analyzes the following four reasons.Foremost,present surroundings bring some adverse effect in literacy teaching;In the next place,characters’ complex inner structure goes beyond students’ reach;Thirdly,students’ unsound development in body and mind requires learning step by step;At last,learning cycle lasts too long for students to keep the enthusiasm.Given this,there are three strategies being proposed.Primarily,activate students to learn literacy;Second one,enrich the methods of literacy learning to improve students’ literacy;Thirdly,improve teaching environment to enhance their comprehensive qualities.Finally,improve family-school cooperation to literacy teaching.This paper first makes a survey on the present situation of literacy teaching,then discusses the main problems and proposes some strategies for improvement,which conforms to the trend of reformation of literacy teaching in our country,and provides some reference value on theory and practice for literacy teaching methods.
