Along with the appearance of “the pictioral turn” and “the society of the spectacle “,the whole world we live has now become a visual world,it marks that the Era of Picture has come.With the advances of science and technology,the quantity of human knowledge has a rapidly growth,and human society has turned into the Knowledge Age.Against the background of Era of Picture and Knowledge Age,how to promote in spreading and understanding the information of the teaching process has become an urgent problem.Presentations of knowledge can influence or even determain invotation,spread and understanding to contents.To realize the visualization of teaching knowledge and to research the visual-supporting tools of various sorts which can promote knowledge transfer and creation,can make knowledge to be better acquired,discussed,evaluated and managed.Therefore,lots of education researchers turn to research the area of knowledge virsualization.With the support of the information technology,the research on knowledge virsualization has achieved lots of new breakthoughs;The applications of knowledge virsualization in the education have gradually increased,be more widespread and be more anticipated.However,the research on the education application of knowledge virsualization still has many problems,such as that theoretical research lags behind practice research,the wrong design view and unreasonable application method of visual representation,and so on.Bases on above problems and the teaching practice,this article proposes the topic of knowledge visualization used in junior middle school English teaching.It aims at constructing an application mode of knowledge visualization,and verifying its effects on improving the teaching effect,and stimulating students' interests,and cultivating students' innovative thinking.The three major works of this study are presented as follows:First,by studying literature and combined with the problems of the current junior middle school English teaching and the defects of the visual representation of knowledge visualization in the application,the paper finds the starting point of this study,and elaborates on the development,definition,essence and theoretical basis of knowledge visualization in detail.Then it analyzes the commomm forms of visual representation,and discusses the feasibility and value of application of visual representation in junior middle schools' English teaching.Second,by using the questionnaire survey and the interview,the paper studies junior middle school students' visual literacy level and the application status of knowledge visualization in the teaching.On this foundation,it analyzes the instructional application concept of knowledge visualization.Then,combining with the characteristics of English subject and teaching goals,the learners' cognitive characterics,the forms of visual representation,teaching mode,teaching evaluation and so on,the study uses visual representation to make English teaching instructional design.Third,by using experimental approach,the research chooses two grade seven classes as experimential objects,and experiments with using knowledge visualization in English teaching in junior middle school for one semester.The study gets the following conclusion after analyzing the experimental data: the applications of knowledge visualization and visual representation can improve students' achievement and teaching effects.It also can stimulate students' interests and improve the learning attitude.And it can help to cultivate students' creative thinking.
