For junior school students,the development of self-identity is related to whether they can form positive personality and good mental health.As the first place where individuals grow,family is essential to their development.According to previous literature,family education playing an important role in the formation and development of the self-identity.But the individuals in various background with their own economy and culture,also have difference in Psychological field.In this paper,urban and rural junior high school students are the research objects,in order to discuss the characteristics of their parenting style and self identity.Also,the differences and the correlation between the two factors are presented.It is hoped that the problem of gender and grade differences in junior high school can be enriched,and some empirical data can be provided for different schools and families.This study selected 500 junior students from 3 different schools in Qinhuangdao,using the parenting style scale(EMBU)and adolescent self identity status questionnaire.420 samples are effective.The results are as follows:1.There are gender differences in parenting styles and self identity of junior high school students.2.There is no difference in family rearing pattern of junior school students from various grades,but the parenting style of urban and rural junior school students are obviously different.The self identity development of urban and rural junior school students are apparently different.The self identity development of junior school students from various grades are apparently different,too.3.In terms of the relationship between parenting style and self identity of junior school students,in addition to the interference of the father,the other factors of the family rearing pattern have significant positive correlation with the factors of self identity.
