The Influence Of Urban And Rural Parental Educational Values And Parenting Style To The Personality Of The Junior Middle School Students

Cultural environment is the important factors that affects personality forming,and parents education values is partly a reflection of the values of culture environment.Parental educational values are parents’ views to raise children,children’ development and the expectations of children’ development.Parental educational values play an important role in shaping personality of junior middle school students.This study selected two groups of subjects in urban and rural areas,measuring the parental educational values,parenting style and the personality of the junior middle school students by questionnaires.Study 1 found that there are many differences between the urban and the rural.Study 2 discussed the relationship between parenting style,parental educational values and the personality of the junior middle school students in two groups.The result showed that some dimensions of parenting style played mediating roles in the relationship between parental educational values and the personality of the junior middle school students.This influence mechanism had many differences between the urban and the rural.The results of the study are as follows: 1.The independence and good behavior and the knowledgeability of parental educational values in urban group are higher than those in rural group,the relationship is lower than that in rural group;The democracy and the indulgence of parenting style in urban group are higher than those in rural group,the despotism and the inconsistency is lower than that in rural group;The extroversion and the self-control of the personality of the junior middle school students in urban group are higher than those in rural group.2.Urban group : the democracy of parenting style plays a mediating role between the tenacity of parental educational values and the self-control of the personality of the junior middle school students;Rural group: the indulgence of parenting style plays a mediating role between the tenacity of parental educational values and the self-control of the personality of the junior middle school students;Urban group : the democracy of parenting style plays a mediating role between the independence of parental educational values and the extroversion of the personality of the junior middle school students;Rural group: the inconsistency of parenting style plays a mediating role between the relationship of parental educational values and the extroversion of the personality of the junior middle school students.
