The rapid development of human society is one of the important reasons which lead to ecological damages,environmental pollutions,decreases of biodiversity,climate changes and other environmental problems.The important way to protect the environment is to enhance the environmental protection consciousness of people.It is the best way to popularize the environment knowledge to the students in elementary and middle school.Environmental education is educational activities which make people understand and deal with environmental problems,enhance the environmental protection consciousness of people and promote sustainable development by means of education methods.The biology course is the fundamental discipline through the entire secondary education process.It is beneficial to cultivate students’ biological science literacy and promote their all-round development by fusing environmental education in the biology teaching process.The students at grade one from junior high schools in Wuda Distict,Wuhai city were chosen as subjects to conduct permeating environmental education in biology teaching at the first time.The environmental protection consciousness conditions were investigated by questionnaire survey before and after the application research.The teaching strategies were then explored and applied to biology course,and the case study was also performed including the relationship between organisms and environments,moss-indicator of air pollution,experiment of acid rain affecting living organisms and caring plants.Furthermore,the comparison analysis of students’ environmental protection consciousness conditions was carried out.Here are the main research results:(1).Before application research in environmental education permeating in biology,26% percent of the students were willing to participate in organization of environmental protection campaign in the school.56%percent of the students liked the penetration of environmental knowledge to biology course.30.5% of the students were interested in environmental issues.48% of the students littered in daily life.Students’ awareness of environmental protection was generally low.Their attitudes were not correct and the actions were more passive.(2).After one semester of application research in environmental education permeating in biology,48% percent of the students were willing to participate in organization of environmental protection campaign in the school.91% of the students liked the penetration of environmental knowledge to biology course.89% of the students did not throw rubbish in daily life.68% of the students were interested in environmental issues.Students’ awareness of environmental protection increased obviously and their attitudes became positive.Students took actions of environmental protection from tiny things,and their power of execution increased.(3).The biology content of junior high school was enriched after application research of permeating environmental education in biology teaching.Students’ learning interests in biology were obviously increased,and their environmental protection consciousness was greatly improved.Permeating environmental education in junior high school biology teaching is helpful for students to set up the ideas of sustainable development,and also improves the environmental quality of teachers.So there are strong feasibility and better effects on permeating environmental education in junior high school biology teaching.
