Secondary education as the bridge to link up the elementary education and higher education, plays an transitional role in the education system. It is irreplaceable in the way to cultivate talents, as well as the key period on talent cultivation, what's more, secondary education also transit diversity talents to all fields in the world. In the 21st century, the competition among the countries is the knowledge competition and the talent competition, thereby, encouraging school characteristics, and increasing the level are the goal of our education development. So how to realize the diversity of the secondary education development, how to reduce the gap between the schools, how to improve the quality of secondary education as a whole, how to build a learning society atmosphere to promote the school contact from all walks of life?The Specialist Schools has made remarkable achievement, accumulated some practical experience during its development. The author takes the Specialist Schools as research object, hoping to afford some ideas for our secondary education revolution. Through literature method, history method, comparative method, the author will the frame as followed:In the introduction, the author will briefly introduce the thesis research background, research questions, research goal and its significance, as well as the research status at home and abroad, and the important concepts will be defined in this part.In the first part, the author will introduce the background of the Specialist Schools briefly, and introduce its development and current situation by systematic way.The second part will expound the dynamic mechanism of the operation of the Specialist School, including internal motivation and external motivation. And the internal motivation involves the students' learning motivation and staff development; and the external motivation is made up of performance characteristic of school evaluation and curriculum setting of freedom.In the third part, the author will analysis the safeguard mechanism. The internal security has the construction of school spirit, high qualified teachers and teaching and the application of ICT equipments. The external security includes policy support, funding, community and refinement identified.The fourth part will discuss the coordination mechanism of the Specialist Schools. The internal mainly includesthe principal, senior management team. The external coordination includes Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, Youth Sport Trust and Schools Improvement Partner.In the fifth part, the author will analysis the running mechanism rationally and objectively. And summarize its achievement and try to find out its defects.In all words, through 20 years'development, the Specialist Schools has become the important part of the English public secondary education system, it has made great contribution on improving the quality of education, promoting education fairness, increasing contact with the community, constructing learning society and so on. The Specialist School Program will continue to play its role in the future.
