The study of students' mathematics conception("SMC")is to make students learn and enjoy learning mathematics.We examined the development of the mathematics conception of the students of grade 2 in senior high school("G2")from the learning of the derivative and its applications("DA").From the psychological perspective of SMC,we hope that this study will be helpful to the further exploration about the influence of the SMC in learning a particular module mathematical content.At the same time,from the philosophical perspective of the SMC,we also hope that this study may be helpful for the further exploration on the role of the students' experience about mathematical activities in school for their mathematics view's development.So,it is very meaningful to go into exploring the development of the mathematics view of the students of G2.We mainly adopt the research method of questionnaire survey and take the study of DA as the research phase,pre-test and post-test were carried out on the students of G2.And this survey was supplemented by classroom observation and interview to collect information.In order to understand the current situation of mathematics conception before learning DA,we took the pre-test on them.The post-test which was taken on the students after learning this part content,was for getting understanding how students' mathematics view develop.And the following conclusions are obtained:Before students studying DA,most of the students' mathematics conception reached at the level of Instrumentalism and Platonism.In particular,we found that SMC at the level of Instrumentalism accounted for about 42% of the all students of G2,at the level of Platonism accounted for about 35%,and at the problem-solving level accounted for about 23%.After students studying DA,SMC at the level of Instrumentalism accounted for 31% of the all students of G2,at the level of Platonism accounted for 33%,and at the level of problem-solving accounted for 36%.SMC had developed from the level of Instrumentalism to Platonism,and then from the level of Platonism to problem-solving,or developed from the Instrumentalism to Platonism or problem-solving in the divergent ways.In view of the learning of DA,the development of the grade 2 students' mathematics conception was influenced by their own experience,internalization of mathematics knowledge structure,mathematical thought and operation ability,mathematics teachers and classroom culture.It is time to make students' mathematics view change when they have beenaware of the difference between the new ideas with their original ideas.Based on the investigation and research,in order to develop the SMC,we put forward following suggestion:(1)students should attitude toward mathematics learning correctly and explore mathematical knowledge actively;(2)mathematical teachers should change the traditional idea and give the initiative of learning mathematics to students;(3)we should improve the evaluation system more perfectly,and create a good atmosphere of mathematics exploring.
