A Study On The Influence Of Social Support On The Elderly Well-being In China

Everyone will care about how to spend their remaining years.At present,population aging has become a pressing social problem in China.How about the life of the aged? Happiness? What are the factors that affect the elderly well-being?...These subjects are all we have to focus on.This study wants to explore the influence of social support,which from the family,the community and the society,and of some demographic variables for the elderly well-being.After the Investigation about the present situation of the elderly well-being,the paper has put forward some rationalization proposals.In the basis of the understanding of scholars',which at home and abroad,research ideas and achievements of influencing factors on the elderly well-being in the perspective of social support,this study mainly uses the SPSS19.0 statistical software to analyze the data with the theory of social capital,social support and community management on the analysis of the elderly well-being.And the data comes from the survey results of questionnaire survey about the elderly well-being in city community in 5 provinces(Fujian,Jiangxi,Liaoning,Sichuan and Zhejiang).The survey results of 1,100 elderly people in 6 cities(Dalian,Fuzhou,Hangzhou,Leshan,Lishui and Nanchang)will be analyzed by descriptive statistics,factorial analysis and correlation analysis.With integrating the basic theory and literature review,the study found that social support can be divided into six factors after factor analysis on social support and the elderly well-being.And the study named the 6 factors of social support as “Family relationships”,“support from children”,“social participation”,“social trust”,“community relations” and “social network”.The old happiness can be divided into three factors.This study named it as “self-acceptance”,“positive emotion” and “negative emotion”.With a bivariate correlation analysis on the elderly well-being and demographic variables and social support,this research has found that:(1)In addition to the “has children or not” project,all the demographic characteristics this paper listed has a significantly associated with the elderly well-being.And “level of education”,“physical condition” and “political landscape” has a significantly correlated on all three factors of the elderly well-being;(2)All six factors of social support has a significantly correlated on two factors of the elderly well-being at least.And “support from children” and “community relations” has a significantly correlated on all three factors of it.Through analyzing the related research results,with those observed in the comprehensive survey,this paper gets the following conclusions:(1)A healthy body and the basic economic income are the guarantee of the elderly well-being;(2)There is a significant correlation between the elderly well-being and the level of education and political landscape;(3)Community has a significant impact on the elderly well-being;(4)Family relationships and the support from children have a significant impact on the elderly well-being;(5)Social activities can enhance the positive emotion of the elder.The concern of the aging population is becoming a global problem in the world.The research on the relationships between the elderly well-being and social support will play an important role in the study of how to effectively improve the elderly life quality.This paper has put forward some corresponding suggestions on the family,community and society.It hopes that this research will have some guiding significance on fully taping the potential to carry out the activities for the family,community and social,and also have some reference significance on proposing the suggestion for the decision-making departments and agencies about the elderly.Although the author has involved in the investigation process,theoretical framework and variable design steps were not involved in,so the data used in this thesis is secondary data,and the data and its analysis results is difficult to fully meet the needs of the research papers.In addition,the survey is taked forward in the community in some cities,so the representative is certain restricted.The following research should further analysis and compare the different between regions or urban and rural community of the elderly well-being,and construct a more theoretical model of the multivariate statistical analysis.
