| Fluency is one of the main features of effective communication and thus a main standard for evaluating the quality of interpreting.Disfluency in consecutive interpreting can have a detrimental effect on the interpreter’s delivery.Therefore,reducing the occurrence of disfluency is significant to improve the quality of interpreting and the effectiveness of communication.The case is a French to Chinese consecutive interpreting of a speech on education reform given by the French Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the French Senate on April 24 th,2013.After the interpreting,the author transcribed and analyzed the recording,and found that there is obvious disfluency in the delivery,which is presented in forms of pause,repetition and self-correction.The author carefully analyzes the causes for the lack of fluency in the delivery and explores corresponding solutions.In the introduction part of this thesis,the author offers the definition and main forms of disfluency based on current research both at home and abroad.The second chapter analyzes the lack of fluency in delivery and the causes for it on the basis of the author’s interpreting.The third chapter gives the corresponding solutions to the problems occurred in the interpreting.The author makes a detailed and objective record and description of the interpreting practice,aiming to analyze disfluency from an objective point of view,hoping to provide empirical materials and suggestions for relevant interpreting practice and academic research. |
