| As the network information technology develops and popularizes ever increasingly,a load of open courses from prestigious foreign universities have been introduced in China,which,claims substantial requirements for their subtitle translation.Being an important medium for transmitting knowledge and information,the subtitle of open course is not only featured by academic rigor of course content and liveliness of the teacher’s spoken language,but also confined to some technical limitation of subtitle.At present,the subtitle translation of open courses still lacks effective guidance and supervision.Even mistranslation occurs frequently,which severely hinders knowledge spreading and cultural exchanges among Chinese audiences.Therefore,professional and accurate subtitle translation of open courses should be urgently encouraged under theoretical guidance.This practice report,based on the author’s translation practice of Harvard open course Positive Psychology,targeting the problems encountered at lexical,syntactical and textual levels during the translation process,mainly adopts the methods of case analysis and comparative analysis to analyze the source text(ST)from extra-textual and intra-textual factors under Nord’s translation-oriented model for text analysis on the basis of features and technical limitation of subtitle in a bid to tackle the problems and draw the following conclusions: the subtitle translation of open course should chiefly adopt the strategy of domesticating coupled with methods including liberal and literal translation as well as translation skills such as addition,omission,division and shift according to various requirements,thus realizing the goal of knowledge spreading and communicative effect. |
