Owing to the development of the international economy, the improvement of traffic status, the substantial increase of living quality of domestic residents and the supporting policies for tourism,an increasing number of Chinese people choose outbound tourism to broaden their horizon and relax themselves.Outbound tourists are thirsty for more information about overseas destinations and tourism translation plays an important role in supplying high-quality tourist materials for outbound tourists in their tourism activities. Therefore, great attention should be paid to tourism translation.Guided by translation-oriented text analysis model proposed by Christiane Nord, the author analyzes the translation problems in the process of E-C translation of Lonely Planet-The Netherlands. Then the author proposes the corresponding solutions under the guidance of instrumental translation.More specifically,a)in respect to proper nouns and terms which Chinese readers are not familiar with,it is necessary to add annotations to clear the way for reading;b)as for the translation of English scenic description, adjusting language style is helpful for catering to Chinese aesthetic requirements;c)speaking of English idioms translation, applying Chinese four-character words and reduplication is adopted to reduce the loss of rhetorical effects;d)the author should improve cross-cultural awareness and try to adapt to Chinese cultural expressions including Chinese religious expressions,four-character words, idioms and poems.By adopting the above-mentioned solutions, the translation of the tour guidebook meets Chinese readers' cognitive, aesthetic and cultural psychologies required in the translation instruction. The findings of the report are expected to provide enlightenment to relevant translators.
