This report is based on the author’s practice of translating Hydraulic Fracturing and Shale Gas Production: Technology,Impacts and Regulations,which is released by Argonne National Laboratory U.S.This report focuses on the technology used in the shale gas industry of America,the impacts to the environment and community and the laws and regulations.The thesis is divided into four parts: the first part introduces the selection of source text,research objectives and the problems to be solved;the second part makes a description of the translation process,including translator selection,the establishment of glossary,background information and so on;in the third part,the author made an analysis on the cases with the help of translation theory;the forth part is the conclusion part which summarizes the translation experiences and proposes a solution to the problems in the translation process.
