In recent years, many countries have turned to the research and development of new energy due to energy shortage. And now, shale gas draws great attention of geologists, engineers and energy companies.China has the largest reserve of shale gas in the world but its development technology is relatively immature. Therefore,a comprehensive overview of shale gas reservoir,an awareness of the big challenges and potential solutions of hydraulic fracture evaluation and the introduction of advanced extraction technology can help save manpower and material resource, improve recovery efficiency and alleviate energy crisis.Current Challenges and Methods for Shale Gas Reservoir and Hydraulic Fracture Characterization, written by Clarkson and Hagshenas et al,is a typical scientific article.Under the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory of Newmark,a famous English translation theorist, the translator translated it into Chinese and introduced shale gas storage and transport mechanism, the challenges associated with evaluating key reservoir and hydraulic fracture properties that foreign geologists faced and recent advances in the area of shale gas reservoir and hydraulic fracture characterization to domestic geologists.Based on the theory, the translator analyzed the translation at lexical, syntactical and discourse levels. The translator thinks that combination of the theory with translating practice can help her understand the theory application in translation practice and also make her translate the source text into target text accurately and smoothly. |
