Difficulties And Strategies In Consecutive Interpreting

This report aims at concluding major difficulties of the author's interpretation practice,and seeking possible strategies in consecutive interpreting through case analysis based on the interpreting task for the 2016 ASEM Media Dialogue on Connectivity.The task was completed by the author on 9th and 10 th May,2016 in Guangzhou,Guangdong Province when foreign media representatives held a conference to discuss further plans about Euro-Asia connectivity and cooperation.After reviewing the complete interpreting task,five main difficulties are concluded as follows: interpreting of numerals,high frequency of noun usages in English,syntactical differences,heavy accent and culturally-loaded words.Correspondingly,the author provides five possible strategies: summarization,conversion,chunking,contextual reading and addition.
