Business English Translation Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

With the rapid development of economic integration and globalization,business English translation is playing a vital role in international trade.And the demand for business English translation also keeps increasing.As an important practical style,business English has its own characteristics in terms of vocabulary and sentence structures,which requires translators to grasp the text characteristics of business English,and to be skilled at translation principles and strategies.This paper is the Chinese translation report of the excerpts of Making Great Decisions in Business and Life,with the aim of learning more about the characteristics of business English translation,and exploring ways to improve the accuracy and readability of business English translation.The book,Making Great Decisions in Business and Life,shows some wise ideas and thoughts in the field of economics,decision science and objective sense in a clear and transparent way by describing the cases in daily life.It is thought-provoking and it is designed to help everyone work more wisely and more efficiently in the business activities and daily life.This paper includes four chapters.Chapter 1 is an overview of the translation project,introducing the project background and analyzing the text characteristics.Chapter 2 is the description of the project completion process,including the pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation modification.Chapter 3 is the case analysis under the guidance of Skopos Theory.In this section,this paper gives a brief introduction of Skopos Theory and the basic three rules,a deep analysis of the translation of business English text under the guidance of Skopos Theory,and some advice on translation strategies.Chapter 4 summarizes the translation experience and lessons in the translation process.Based on the characteristics of business English translation,the author,adhering to three basic rules of Skopos Theory,namely the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule,tries to convey the original information and realize the expected goal through flexible use of translation methods and strategies.The author hopes this paper can give some enlightenment to translators in the aspect of the translation of business texts,and also provide some references for the research of business English translation.
