This is a report on the translation of business articles taken from The New Yorker. The New Yorker is a classic American periodical founded by editor Harold Ross and his wife Jane Grant.Due to its high popularity in the United States and long release time,it has also attracted the attention of many Chinese readers in recent years. However,The New Yorker has not issued an official Chinese version, and it is difficult for Chinese readers to read pure English publications,so it is necessary to translate the articles of The New Yorker into Chinese. This translation report is based on two The New Yorker business articles,"The Back Office"(December 2020)and "Office Space"(February 2021).These two articles both relate the development of office style of American companies in a consecutive way.In these two articles there are a total of 1,1271 words in English and 2,2733 words in their Chinese translation, providing sufficient materials for translation studies. This report describes the Chinese translation process of these two articles and reviews the gains from the translation practice, with the aim of enabling the readers of the translated articles to know something about the relevant business knowledge mentioned in The New Yorker magazine and articles, and providing reference for the translation of such articles in the future.Under the guidance of skopos theory, the report explores the suitable strategies and methods of translating the business English terms and artificial intelligence office words in particular, taking int consideration target-readers’ reading experiences.Specifically speaking,it carries out the research on the translation of professional terminology and difficult sentences in the concerned articles in terms of lexical analysis, syntactic analysis and textual analysis of the source text and on the basis of accurate conveyance of the themes,so as to improve the quality of the translation, let the reader better understand the current business development situation in the United States. The last part of the report offers summary and reflection on the whole translation practice, and analyzes all aspects of the connection between translation theory and practice from the perspective of gains and losses in the translation process,so as to improve the translator’s translation literacy.
