| In the economic globalization,the business ties among international countries become increasingly close.International business translation has played a prominent role in accelerating the economic growth,a pivotal role in promoting international economic exchanges.So translation on international business texts,especially on those having a strong specialty,has aroused wide attention.Translators not only should change their language between English and Chinese flexibly,but also should be familiar with the background knowledge on relevant information.Jeff Madura gives a comprehensive summary on international business theories in his book Introduction to Business.He analyzes how enterprises operate management in conditions of market economy,and offers constructive ideas for enterprise managers.Based on features of source material,translators need to represent the original information in a loyal way,and at the same time,to meet the demand of the target readership.In order to achieve the goal,the translator introduces the Skopos Theory into translating process.Skopos theory,proposed by German linguist Hans Vermeer,emphasizing the author’s motivation during translating,can make translation effective.In this report,the translator takes the part of Marketing in Chapter five of Introduction to Business as an example,summarizes language features.The translator translates the material mainly by the use of strategies and skills as conversion,amplification,omission,andliteral translation as well as free translation.In addition,related parallel texts have helped to better fit the translation to the target language,in style as well as in meaning.What’s more,the translation should be faithful to the source text and it should express the whole meaning.It is hoped that the translation could be a reference for business teaching text. |
