| This paper is a report on the translation of Chapter One of the book Rights for Victims of Crime: Rebalancing Justice.Chapter One brings victims of crime out of the shadows,revealing the statistics and realities of the millions who invisibly suffer each year.It helps victims,their loved ones,and society to understand the impact of crime on victims’ needs.The translator,in accordance with Katharina Reiss’ s classification of text type and Hans Vermeer’s skopos theory,has managed to translate the referential information in source text to inform common people of the situation of the victims of crime and some solutions to help these victims.If possible,some solutions practiced in developed countries may help the related experts in China to improve the situation of the victims of crimes.Moreover,it is hoped that this report can summarize the translating skills of the informative text of such kind and provide a reference for the study in future.This translation report consists of five parts.Introduction elaborates the background and significance of the project.Chapter One introduces the author of the source text and main contents of source text.Chapter Two clarifies theoretical basis of the translation report.Chapter Three expounds difficulties in translating and translation techniques.The end part is summary of the author of the translation report. |
