This paper is a report on the translation of the first to fourth part of Chapter Four of Rights for Victims of Crime: Rebalancing Justice,which elaborates that how government,society and family should care for and assist victims of crime from the aspects of general care,mental health injuries care,support and assistance and gender-related support for victims.In addition,the source text of the translation project includes different kinds of victim's support models in United States,Britain,Canada and Japan,which can be used for references when the similar cases happens in our country or even other countries in the world.The translator,according to Hans Vermeer's skopos theory and Katharina Reiss' s classification of text type,has managed to transfer the main contents and meaning of the source text into straightforward,clear and concise target text.The translator expects that the public at home and abroad will have a better understanding of the situation of victims in criminal cases and provide them with necessary assistance and services through this translation project.Moreover,if possible,the translation project will provide reference for relevant governmental agencies and related experts;so that they are able to better serve the victims.This translation report has five parts,which chiefly presents the background,significance and structure of the project,basic information and main contents of the source text,two translation theories based on,difficulties in translating as well as the solutions,and lessons the translator learned from the project and her problems to be addressed.
