Chinese Language Usage Of Foreign Students In Jiangsu

The international students studying in China are the main target of the Chinese language teaching as a second language.They can assess to bett-er second language environment and more chances of second language communication,which is an advantage to those who study at home.In 2016,there are over 20 thousand foreign students from more than 181 countries coming to study in the higher institutes in Jiangsu.Jiangsu has become the key province for the foreign students learning Chinese.To investigate the situation how they use Chinese in their daily life means a lot to the Chinese language teaching targeted at foreign students.The paper is focused on the following four fields:1.The basic information col lection and analysis;2.Investigation on language skills,including listenin g,speaking,reading,writing and translation;3.Research on language key elements:pronunciations,grammar,vocabulary and Chinese charact eristic;4.Feedback on the current curriculum and class teaching.According to the research goals,the paper has employed the combined methods to investigate through the Q&A forms and talks directly with the students.The investigation faces the whole province.Through the re-search,the paper has come out with several suggestions on the Chinese teaching as a second language.Through the analysis and research of the five skills:listening,speaking,reading,translation and writing as well as vocabulary,grammar,pronunciation and Chinese characters.The paper has come to a deeper u nderstanding.In general,the usage of Chinese by the foreign students in Jiangsu has the following 7 characteristics:1.Attention is paid on daily language;2.The interest in Chinese culture is increasing;3.less attention is paid on the commercial and economy vocabulary;4.Knowledge on tourism and culture has been increased;5.The attention on literacy,history and customs remains backward;6.More attention is on the daily life related skills,such as listening and speaking;7.Pronunciation practice is very much needed.There have been several points to be shown:1.the overall situation of foreign students studying Chinese is good.The foreign students attach great importance of output skills of Chinese language,especially listening and speaking;2.The foreign students think it is important to cul tivate the skills related with daily lives;3.The foreign students are good at using the new media social communication method to build up more I earning platform;4.Lack of courage is the main obstacle of foreign students using Chinese.On the base of the investigation forms,I have also talked with some of the students and take their suggestions.I have come up with thefollowing conclusions:First,more attention should be paid on the skills tr aining;Second,increase the teacher’s knowledge;Third,promote the tea ching using new media method.
