A Report On E-C Translation Of Performance Evaluation Handbook Of Albatross Global Solution

This report is based on the translation practice o f Performance Evaluation Handbook o f Albatross Global Solution during my internship in the company.Performance evaluation is a key part of performance management which regulates standards of the company management.This report analyzes the linguistic features in lexis,syntax and discourse.As translation theories are instructional to practice,the translation of this hand book is guided by the functional translation theory.By using various translation strategies at lexical,syntactic and discourse levels,the translator spares no efforts to make the translation accord with the expressions in the target language so as to ensure its accuracy and conciseness.The report is a further and deeper study of the difficulties in translating the source text.During the process,the terms have been translated based on the internationally recognized professional expressions in the performance management field.To solve the problem of translationese which refers to those versions that do not conform to norms in the target language,revisions have been made to achieve readability.Cultural differences are inevitable during the translation.Therefore,the translator not only uses translation strategies at linguistic level,but also realizes the effect of cultural factors.With clear cross-cultural awareness,the translator has tried hard to find the semantic,stylistic and cultural equivalents of the source text to the target text.Through this translation practice,the translator has a deeper understanding of cross-cultural awareness that guarantees the unification of both professional and cultural features in the target text.
