By increasing the communication between China and other countries in terms of political, economic and cultural fields, "Chinese hot" is gaining its popularity across the world. Increasingly more countries begin to realize the importance of learning Chinese, and most countries start to offer Chinese courses. Thailand has been actively dedicating itself into Chinese Education, however, while Chinese education in Thailand is booming, we can see that there are lots of problems regard to Chinese education in Thailand at the present stage.By investigating the curriculum design of Dongfang University in Thailand and distributing questionnaire to 33 freshman at this university, as well as interviewing the local Chinese instructor, this study unearths a deep insight into the current status of Chinese teaching and its corresponding problems of this university. At current stage, several problems in terms of Chinese Teaching in Thailand are found:(1)The problems existed in Thai Dongfang University among Chinese instructors are: firstly, Chinese instructors don’t like writing Chinese characters on the blackboard; Secondly, instructors fail to solve students’ questions on time; Lastly, the teaching methodology is obsolete.(2)The problems existed in Thai Dongfang University among Chinese learners are: firstly, they have sophisticated learning motivation; secondly, they fail to put enough time into timely previewing and reviewing of the courses; Thirdly, they occasionally have absent-minded behavior during class so that they cannot concentrate on studies; Fourthly, they do not have enough enthusiasm towards learning; lastly, they do not have a correct learning attitude.To solve problems stated above, some suggestions and countermeasures are provided:(1)Advice to the school and the teachers: choosing the appropriate teaching material; adjusting the time arrangement; repairing and updating equipment on time, enhancing the Chinese character’s writing, improving instructors’ teaching level and answering the questions from the students in a timely manner.(2)Advice to the students: getting up on a right side,setting goals, developing interests and keeping enthusiasm; forming the good habit of timely previewing and reviewing; focusing and concentrating.I hope results from this study can provide effective solutions to Chinese teaching for Dongfang University in Thailand, and extends its result to universities in Thailand who have similar situations, so that they can refer to this study when they encounter problems. |
