Ann Hui, one of the representatives of Hong Kong New Wave Cinema, has been active in the film's directing for more than 30 years. Her film interpret the little people legendary life by the poetic way, and brings audience familiar strangeness, the resurrection feeling of the people in real life with gradually withered, and wakes endless exploration of its inner driving force. Ann Hui's films better balanced the relationship between art and commerce, in addition,she has achieved outstanding results in the creation of art films.This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part,mainly introduces the Ann Hui's family background and work status, and summarizes the current situation of Ann Hui's film in the mainland. Also,the second chapter is the introduction part too. The writer find the breakthrough through the explanation of relevant concepts in this thesis to give a general overview of "selves" and "others" in the eyes of Hongkong people.The whole thesis is based on the point of view that the relationship with the mainland is examine by Hongkong people. In the third chapter, Ann Hui's films are divided into two parts by "nine seven" as the key point in time to study them. With the method of content analysis,the writer summarize the images of the characters in Ann Hui's films. The fourth chapter analyzes the reasons that mainland people showed up in her films and they changed as time went by. The analysis is mainly from Ann Hui's family background, social perspective, female role and transform of creative space. The fifth chapter, the analysis is focused on the features of the images in Ann Hui's films. The diverse, complex and objectivity Ann Hui used in her films to describe mainland images were summed up.This thesis argues that the image of the shape of the mainland people of Hong Kong film is the performance of the people of Hong Kong to seek new identity. Hong Kong film on the characterization of the Mainland people has a stereotype, and this stereotype changes with the political system in Hong Kong and times. Ann Hui's broke the stereotype of the image of the people in the mainland, which true naturally reflects the change of the image of the mainland.
