Bone drilling is commonly used in surgical operations,but an excessive drilling temperature can easily lead to thermal necrosis of the bones,affecting the success rate of surgery and the postoperative recovery of bone.In order to reduce the temperature during bone drilling and reduce the thermal damage,a new method is needed.As a cross-disciplinary technology,ultrasound technology is widely used in industry,medical and other aspects.The combination of traditional machining and ultrasonic technology has yielded unexpected results in metal cutting.In this paper,the ultrasonic technology has been used in the drilling of cortical bone to study the drilling temperature under the action of it.The main aspects of the study are as follows:(1)Based on the traditional drilling,the processing of ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling is analyzed.Based on the theory of cutting heat generation and dispersion,the production and variation mechanism of drilling temperature in ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling was studied.In addition,the effects of cutting parameters,vibration parameters and cutting fluid on the drilling temperature were analyzed.(2)The single factor test was designed and carried out to compare the drilling temperature of cortical bone in ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling and conventional drilling under the same drilling parameters.The effects of spindle speed and feed speed in both two drilling modes and the influence of two vibration parameters in ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling on the drilling temperature of cortical bone were studied.(3)The parametric modeling system of twist drill is established based on the secondary development function of UG.The three-dimensional model of cortical bone was established based on reverse engineering and CT scanning.The simulation model of ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling of cortical bone was constructed by ABAQUS.(4)The simulation test based on ABAQUS was designed and carried out.The predicting model of drilling temperature of the cortical bone on drilling parameters and vibration parameters in ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling were created by the multivariate linear regression analysis of simulation test data.To reduce the drilling temperature and improve drilling efficiency,the parameters were optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization.
