Bone drilling operation is often used in plastic surgery and trauma surgery.The temperature of cortical bone will increase during the process of drilling.When the temperature is higher than a certain value,the necrosis of bone cells will be caused.In the previous studies of the process of drilling,the material properties of the cortical bone were set to isotropic,while the material properties of the cortical bone were anisotropy.Therefore it is better to analyze the influence of drilling parameters on the drilling temperature through the study of the material properties of cortical bone during the process of drilling.Therefore,in this paper,using the finite element simulation software ABAQUS to simulate the process of drilling cortical bone,the material properties of the cortical bone are set to isotropic and orthotropic.And different simulation results are obtained.The drilling experiment was got on,and comparison between the simulation results and the test results was analyzed.Finally,the influence of drilling parameters on the temperature and axial force is studied,and the prediction model of drilling temperature and axial force on drilling parameters is obtained.The main research process is as follows:1)Establishing simulation model of bone drilling and selecting the reasonable drilling parameters.The cortical bone material properties are set to be isotropic and orthotropic in the ABAQUS finite element simulation model.Analysis of cortical bone stress,cutting temperature and axial force of different material properties.2)Conduct the drilling experiment with medical drill and fresh pig femoral.The experimental results are compared with the simulation results.The results show that the finite element model is close to the experiment when the material properties are set to orthotropic.3)Study on the bit diameter,feed rate,drill speed on the effect of cutting temperature and axial force based on the orthotropic finite element model.The prediction model of drilling parameters and drilling temperature and axial force is obtained.
