Objectives: Identifying status of quality of life and influence factors tonurses, it will be useful to health policy-makers and medical managers tofind out the best way and evidence to improve quality of life of nurese.Through study on Quality of Life of nurses working at different gradehospitals, some extent scientific evidence or clue will get to strengthenquality of health service, working effecticity, care satisfication and topromote human resource of health reasonable using, and to set up somebasic theory to research of nurse area in future.Methods: The across-sectional study was as research style in thisactivity. World Health Organization on Quality of Life Brief Scale(WHOQOL-BREF) to China version promised by Dr. Somnath Chatterjifrom WHO, was a tool of assessment to quality of life. The survey wasdone for quality of life of nurses who are working at 16 hospitalsdistributing different grades in He Ze City of Shandong Province fromJuly 2005 to December 2006. Data of collection used face to faceapproach for questionnaire and qualitative interviewing to some persons who were sampling at fields. Epidata 3.1 software was as database andsame file was input by two groups to test the data validity. Stata 8.0software was taken statistics analytic to descriptive analysis andinferentive analysis involve in single factor and multi-factors analysis.Results: The score of quality of life to nurses working at the third gradehospital was significant higher than that of primary and second gradehospitals on physical, social and environmental domains (P<0.05). Thescore of all domains was not significant difference between primary andsecond hospitals. For the score of general feeling, quality of life ofnurses was lowest at the second hospital and was significant differencewith other grade hospitals (P<0.05). However, the score of general feelingwas not significance between primary and third grade hospitals (P>0.05).There was a tendency of increasing high score of quality of life withnurses'age on physical, psychological and environmental domains. Thesecond and third grade hospitals were good score of quality of life athigh qualification groups. And there was a status that scores of qualityof life of nurses working at non-clinical departments was higher thanthat of at clinical departments on physical, psychological andenvironmental domains.Through analysis of correlation to influent factors, the resultsshowed positive coefficient with significance on age, family harmony,eating habit, satisfaction to work income, confident for working hospital and respect of occupation. Multi-regress analysis found out the commoninfluent factors that were family harmony, eating habit and income permonth.The reputation of occupation, satisfaction of working environmentand the numbers of going away to study and paying attention to workwere specific influent factors to score of general feeling to third,second and primary grade hospitals respectively.Conclusion: The status of quality of life was different to nurses workingat different grade hospitals, among quality of life at third grade hospitalwas better than that of second and primary grade hospitals. The qualityof life working at clinical departments should be paid attention andimproved to third grade hospital nurses. The most influent factors toquality of life were similar at different grade hospitals except a fewspecific factors. According to different situations, the healthpolicy-makers and medical managers should adopt relative approaches tointervene target subjects such as setting up health database to nurses,improving work environment, keeping on training their skill, reducingover-load of work, increasing income, psychological welfare,etc.Meanwhile, the information should be feedback to related departmentsand subjects. It is very necessary to keep on surveillance and evaluationto these measures.
