Objective:Previous research has shown that Intermittent Fasting(IF)has a significant effect on weight loss in obese patients. But comparing to the traditional method of losing weight--Continuous Energy Restriction(CER),whether the two methods have the same effect on weight loss? Utill now there was little reports on it.This study used randomized controlled trials to compare two methods of weight loss in order to explore the effects of IF and CER on body shape indexs ? physiological and biochemical in overweight or obese people. Methods:In this study,65 overweight and obese volunteers were recruited through the WeChat platform of Nanchangshi Center for Disease Control and Prevention(NCCDC).The volunteers were randomly divided into two groups. One group adopted IF method and the other adopted CER method for 16 weeks. To compare body shape indexs(including weight, body mass index, hip circumference, waist circumference and waist-hip ratio),physiological and biochemica(including blood glucose, blood lipids,ALT,AST)in overweight and obese patients before and after intervention, and thus evaluate the effect of the two methods. Finally,IF group were lost 2 people,to complete the 31;The CER group were lost 15 people,completed17.Included in PP analysis of IF group was 31 cases,CER group was 17 cases.Result:(1)After 16 weeks of intervention, the body shape indexs(except WHR in the CER group)were significantly decreased(P < 0.05)both in the IF and the CER group. But there were no differences(P >0.05)between the groups?(2)After 16 weeks of intervention, the FPG and LDL-C were statistically significant decreased(P < 0.05)both in the IF and the CER group. There were no statistically significant changes in TG,TC,and HDL-C(P>0.05)both in the IF andthe CER group. There were no differences(P >0.05)in FPG,TC,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C between the groups.(3)After 16 weeks of intervention, the ALT and AST were statistically significant decreased(P < 0.05)both in the IF and the CER group, with no differences(P >0.05)between the groups. Conclusion:Intermittent Fasting and Continuous Energy Restriction are similar in improving body shape indexs(weight, waist circumference, hip circumference,WHR),blood glucose, blood lipids(TG,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C),AST and ALT for overweight and obese subjects.
