Objective:With the increasing rate of overweight and obesity, intermittent fasting?IF?has received increasing attention as an emerging non-drug weight loss therapy.Animal models and human trials have shown that IF may be related to body weight, body composition, and cardiovascular biomarkers. And aging has a beneficial effect. However, the clinical research is relatively lagging, and the existing research results are controversial. This study used a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effect of intermittent exercise on the weight loss of overweight and obese volunteers to explore a simple and cost-effective method of weight loss. Methods:This study used a randomized parallel controlled trial,64 overweight and obese volunteers were randomized into intermittent fasting with moderate exercise group?IF group?and moderate exercise group?ER group?.After 20 weeks of intervention, the body morphology indexes, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose?FPG?and lipid index, liver function index and renal function index were compared before and after intervention. This study used a follow-up study protocol analysis. The final IF group was included in the analysis of 28 patients, and the ER group was included in the analysis of 26 patients.Statistical analysis of data was performed using SPSS version17.0.Result:?1?Baseline measurement indicators show:The average age of IF group and ER group was?43.04±8.75?vs.?41.69±8.56?years old,the average height?162.75±6.54?vs.?160.96±5.59?cm,and the average body weight?72.96±10.94?vs.?72.59±8.26?kg.body mass index?BMI??27.41±2.52?vs.?27.94±1.85?kg/m2.No statistical difference was observed between the two groups of volunteers?P>0.05?.?2?After 20 weeks of dry expectation, the comparison between the two groups of observation indicators shows:Body morphological indicators:IF group weight?67.56±10.83 vs 73.00±7.38kg?,BMI?25.37±2.81 vs.28.13±1.82 kg/m2?,waist circumference?84.15±8.06 vs.90.79±5.92 cm?,hip circumference?97.17±5.11 vs.102.62±4.73 cm?were lower than the ER group, and the differences among the four groups were statistically significant?P<0.05?.There was no significant difference in waist-hip ratio?WHR?between the two groups?P>0.05?.Among the blood glucose and lipid indicators:FPG?4.62±0.44 vs.5.23±0.70mmol/L?and low density lipoprotein cholesterol?LDL-C??2.25±0.55 vs.2.67±0.78 mmol/L?were lower in the IF group than in the ER group, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol?HDL-C?in the IF group was higher than the ER group.?1.43±0.25 vs.1.26±0.31 mmol/L?,the differences among the three groups were statistically significant?P<0.05?.There was no significant difference between the total cholesterol?TC?and total triglyceride?TG?groups after intervention?P>0.05?.Among the indicators of liver and kidney function:total bilirubin?IBIL?in IF group?12.92±3.40 vs.13.43±3.65 umol/L?,alanine aminotransferase?ALT??24.89±7.17 vs.26.52±8.69 U/L?,aspertate aminotransferase?AST??18.42±5.42 vs.20.51±8.60 U/L?,creatinine?CRE??80.63±15.07 vs.84.72±14.53 umol/L?Urea?UREA??4.21±4.52 vs.4.95±1.61 mmol/L?was slightly lower than the ER group, but the difference between the five indicators was not statistically significant?P>0.05?.?3?Comparison of the two groups of observation indicators before and after the20-week intervention showed:Body morphological indicators:IF group before and after intervention, the average weight loss decreased by 5.40kg,BMI decreased by 2.04kg/m2,waist circumference decreased by 6.42cm,hip circumference decreased by 5.37cm,WHR decreased by 0.02,body shape of IF group. The weight,BMI,waist circumference, hip circumference and WHR of the index decreased compared with those before the intervention, and the difference was statistically significant?P<0.05?.The average weight of the ER group increased by 0.41kg before and after the intervention, and the average BMI increased by 0.19kg/m2,the average waist circumference increased by0.84cm,and the hip circumference increased by 0.73cm.There was no significant difference in body morphological indexes between the ER group and the intervention group?P>0.05?.There was no significant difference between the two groups before and after systolic and diastolic pressure intervention.?P>0.05?.Among the blood glucose and lipid indicators:the average FPG of IF group decreased by 0.46mmol/L,and the average of LDL-C decreased by 0.40mmol/L.The difference of FPG and LDL-C before and after intervention was statistically significant?P<0.05?,TC,TG,HDL-C.There was no significant difference between the two groups before and after intervention?P>0.05?.There was no significant difference between the blood group and the blood lipid index in the ER group?P>0.05?.Among the indicators of liver and kidney function:ALT decreased by 3.71 U/L and AST decreased by 5.71 U/L before and after intervention in IF group. The levels of ALT and AST decreased compared with baseline before and after intervention, and the difference was statistically significant?P<0.05?.CRE and UREA had a lowering trend than before intervention, and TBIL increased slightly, but the difference of the three indexes was not statistically significant?P>0.05?.There was no significant difference in liver and kidney function indexes before and after intervention in ER group?P>0.05?.).?4?The difference between the average number of steps per week in the IF group and the ER group in the exercise step array was not statistically significant(PIF=0.074,PER=0.472).There was no significant difference in the average number of steps between the two groups?P>0.05?.BMI multi-time repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the main effect of the single effect analysis treatment was different from the ER group at 4,8,12,16 and 20 weeks?P<0.05?.Conclusion:The 20-week trial showed that intermittent exercise with appropriate amount of exercise can effectively reduce weight,BMI,waist circumference, hip circumference, and WHR in overweight and obese people, and reduce the levels of FPG,LDL-C,AST,and ALT in volunteers, suggesting intermittent fasting.Moderate exercise is an effective weight loss program.
