Preliminary Study On The Relationship Between Depression,Anxiety And Negative Life Events Of Patients With Chronic Gastritis

Objective:To explore the relationship between depression,anxiety and negative life events,life satisfaction and the relationship between psychological maturity and emotional state of patients with chronic gastritis so as to promote the attention of the public to emotion management to benefit their physical and mental health.Methods:Subjective feelings of 62 inpatients that were confirmed as suffering from chronic gastritis were evaluated with Zung self-rating depression scale(SDS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and satisfaction with life scale(SWLS).A questionnaire survey was also performed.The patients were carefully asked whether the negative life events happened before and after the occurrence of symptoms had negative impact.The general information and clinical data of patients were recorded.Results:The average SDS score and average SAS score of 62 patients with chronic gastritis were 52.87±9.61 and 52.55±9.05 respectively,which were both significantly higher than Chinese norms,the difference was of statistical significance(P<0.05).38 patients were depressed(61.3%)and 39 cases were anxious(62.9%).Among them,25 cases(40.3%)were depressed and anxious,most of which suffered from mild to moderate depression and anxiety and few of which had severe cases.There were difference in anxiety statebetween patients with negative life events and no negative life events(P <0.05).40 cases(64.5%)encountered negative life events before the symptoms,which caused dysthymia that couldn't be effectively regulated.Among them,22 cases(55%)arose from family problems.There were significant differences in depression and anxiety of patients with chronic gastritis who had different life satisfactions(P <0.05).There was no statistical difference in depression and anxiety of patients with chronic gastritis who had different courses of the disease.There were more obvious emotional problems for women,farmers and patients with lower education level.Conclusion:The depression,anxiety and other abnormal psychological states are ubiquitous for patients with chronic gastritis.The negative life events and life satisfaction of patients with chronic gastritis are closely related with the occurrence of depression and anxiety.Courses of the disease have no obvious effect on depression and anxiety in patients with chronic gastritis.The patients of chronic gastritis with different genders,professions and education levels have various depression and anxiety degrees.
