Objective :By analyzing the high risk factors of pulmonary infection afteresophagectomy for cancer, and exploring the effective measures to prevent postoperative pulmonary infection, reduce the incidence as far as possible. Methods:Collected 256 cases of patients who diagnosed to esophageal carcinoma and taken the radical resection in the Fujian Provincial Tumor Hospital between December 2014 to December2015.The patients were divided into two groups:pulmonary infection group and control group.Including the age, gender, smoking history, body mass index, preoperative pulmonary functions, diabetes, hypertension, surgical method, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, lesion, pathological type, tumor stage as the candidate risk factors. The design method of descriptive was used.Statistical analysis was carried out by SPSS software(version 19.0 for window). We used single-factor analysis(chi-square test)and multi-factor analysis(Logistic regression)to investigate the features of the two groups(p<0.05).Results:1.Single-factor analysis showed that there are close relationships between the patients with pulmonary infection after esophagectomy for cancer and following features: age(P=0.015),smoking history(P=0.000),preoperative pulmonary functions(P=0.026),diabetes(P=0.002),surgical method(P=0.000),operation time(P=0.004).The patients of esophageal carcinoma with postoperative had such risk factors as age more than 60 years old, smoking history more than 20 years, preoperative pulmonary functions moderate abnormality or worse, preoperative diabetes, traditional surgery, operation time more than 4 hours.2.Multi-factor analysis showed age, smoking history, diabetes, surgical method were independent risk factors for pulmonary infection after esophagectomy for cancer. Conclusion:There are close relationship between pulmonary infection afteresophagectomy for cancer and age, smoking history, preoperative pulmonary functions, diabetes, surgical method, operation time. And age more than 60 years old, smoking history more than 20 years, preoperative diabetes, traditional surgery were regarded as the independent risk factors for pulmonary infection after esophagectomy for cancer.
