Objective The aim of this study was to discuss the risk factors of orthostatic hypotension(OH)and its association between cardio-ankle vascular index(CAVI)in elder people, estimate the value of CAVI in identifying OH.Method:The author selected 98 hospitalized elderly patients(age was? 80 years)in the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from 2015.9 to 2017.1.Measuring blood pressure when the patients were in the supine position,as well as 1,2,3 minutes after standing. If a reduction of systolic blood pressure of at least 20 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure of at least 10 mm Hg within 3 minutes of standing, the patients were diagnosed as OH and brought into orthostatic hypotension group,If not, brought into non orthostatic hypotension group.Collecting the clinical general information of the patients(include gender, age, smoking status, alcohol consumption level, biochemical examination, history of diabetes mellitus, history of hypertension.Assessments of height, weight.Body mass index(BMI)was calculated.patients,Cardio-ankle vascular index were assessed using an automatic device.Analyzing the differences of the data information between the two groups.Discussing the relationship between OH and CAVI.Result:(1)In the 98 hospitalized elderly,63 cases of men,and 35 cases of women, mean age was 82.83±2.58 years old.OH incidence was 30.6%(30/98).the incidence of hypertension in the OH groups was higher than the OH group(70.0% vs.41.2%),the difference between the two groups was significant(P < 0.05).Multiariable logistic regression analysis revealed that hypertension was the independent risk factors of OH(OR: 5.737 %,CI: 1.211 27.174,P < 0.05).(2)The CAVI of OH group was obviously higher than that of the OH group(9.87±2.54 vs.8.31±1.68),the difference between the two groups was significant(P < 0.05).(3)The area under the ROC curve was 0.717(P < 0.001).With the cut-off value of 9.25,the sensitivity and specificity were 63.3% and 77.9%.Conclusion:(1)The incidence of OH was high in hospitalized elderly, hypertension is an independent risk factors of OH.(2)The CAVI of OH group was obviously higher than that of the OH group.CAVI may be as a predictor of OH in the elderly.
