Object: To explore the safety and efficacy of using lvis stents assisted coiling to treat intracranial aneurysms.Besides the experience of applying lvis stents will be summarized in this study.Methods:34 aneurysms(32 patients)treated by lvis stents in our hospital between September2014 to December 2015 were included. We studied their initial clinical data and follow-up materials retrospectively.According to Hunt-Hess grades,we evaluated their pathogenetic condition before the operation. The safety was assessed by the incidences of complications, such as intraoperative cerebral hemorrhage, scaffold collapse, stent migration, stent open incompletely, intrastent thrombosis. The efficacy was estimated by the embolization degree and the Glasgow Outcome Scale.Results:32 cases having 41 aneurysms totally were included in our study.According to the shape and the risk of aneurysms rupture, there were 34 aneurysms treated by lvis stent assisted coiling.Among cases treated by using the stents,30 aneurysms were treated by single-stent assisted coiling,4 aneurysms treated by double-stent assisted coil.In the operations, all the stents was released completely and the technical success rate was100%.There were two patients classified as Hunt-Hess grades ? dying, the one dying for cerebral hemorrhage, the other dying for severe pulmonary infection. The immediate postoperative angiography indicated that the complete occlusion was in 24(70.6%)cases,neck remnant in 7(20.6%)cases and partial occlusion in 3(8.8%)cases.After following up3-12 months of the remnant 30 cases,we found that 3(9.4%)aneurysms have recurrence.Besides, with 4 cases classified as neck remnant transforming to complete occlusion, the complete occlusion has been improved to 81.2%.Being evaluated by Glasgow Outcome Scale, the favorable(the GOS score 4-5)and the poor(score 1-3)clinical effect were in 28 cases and4 cases respectively. The well clinical outcome rate was 87.6%.Conclusion: As a new low profile visualized intraluminal support stent, the lvis stent can improve the rate of effective embolization through multiple mechanisms. In our study, using lvis stents to treat intracranial aneurysms is safe and effective in the short term.Besides, further prospective studies are need to evaluate its long-term efficacy and safety.
