ObjectiveThe objective of this research is to survey the current status and the factors influencing the knowledge,attitude and practice about tuberculosis among those students in five higher vocational schools of Qinghai Province.It will also effectively provide scientific basis for the health education on tuberculosis in the university.MethodBy means of convenience sampling,the researchers have chosen 1881 students in their freshman year or sophomore year from five higher vocational schools in Qinghai Province as the research object.The self-designed questionnaire regarding the knowledge,attitude and practice about the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis has been carried out.It has contained the basic information,the knowledge about the prevention and treatment of the disease,relevant concepts,relevant behaviors,knowledge needs and the channels for collecting relevant information.EPIDATA has been utilized for the input of relevant materials.SPSS21.0 has been used for the statistical analysis.Results1.The overall awareness rate of the knowledge about 12 items from self-setting questionnaire among those students in the higher vocational school of Qinghai Province is 51.39 percent.The awareness rate of the single item of relevant knowledge has varied from 9.62 to 87.19 percent.The awareness rate of the knowledge about the symptom of the disease stands at 87.19 percent,which is the highest level.The awareness rate of the knowledge about whether they have been vaccinated comes to 9.62 percent,which is the lowest level.The awareness rate of the 7 core items of the information about the prevention and treatment of the disease only stands at 4.19 percent.2.The rate of those students having an attitude towards tuberculosis ranges from 15.90 to 92.82 percent.The overall rate of those students having an attitude towards tuberculosis is 73,02 percent.3.The rate of those students having the practice related to tuberculosis ranges from 38.01 to 91.39 percent.The overall rate of those students having the practice related to tuberculosis stands at 70.12 percent.4.As shown by the single factor analysis,the awareness rate of the knowledge about the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis among those students has varied according to the type of the school,grade,gender and nationality.5.As shown by the multiple factor analysis,there is also a difference in the awareness rate of the knowledge about the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis according to the type of the school,grade and nationality.6.According to the Pearson correlation analysis,there is a correlation between knowledge about tuberculosis,attitude and practice.Conclusion1.There is a low awareness rate of the knowledge about the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis among those students in higher vocational schools of Qinghai.Those students have lacked a comprehensive understanding of relevant knowledge.Hence,further efforts should be made to carry out the heath education and spread the knowledge about the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis.The most important knowledge to be spread should include the policy about the free examination and treatment of tuberculosis,the time for treatment and effective methods of preventing the disease such as the vaccine.2.Most students have a firm attitude towards the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis.But some students are not well aware of the risk of being diagnosed with the tuberculosis.Those students in higher vocational school have a positive attitude towards the health education on tuberculosis.They are also willing to take part in relevant activities on campus.3.One the whole,those students in higher vocational school have excellent practice relevant to tuberculosis.But there are only a small proportion of those students who can collect the relevant information as well as share it with their families and friends actively.4.There is some difference in the knowledge,attitude and practice about tuberculosis according to demographic characteristics.There is also a correlation between knowledge,attitude and practice.
