Peripheral Facial Paralysis is a common disease at acupunture department.It is a disease caused by non-specific inflammation of facial nerve and resulted as facial muscles insensitive and paralysis.The main symptoms are the wrinkles of the affected side disapearing,palpebral fissure increasing,facial paralysis,frowning or graining failure.It is one kind disease of stroke and also named wry mouth or facial paralysis.It can attack any ages people but mainly occurred at the young one.Besides affecting the normal function,for example,lagopthalmus and food residue at the affected side,it also causing a ugly image and mental pressure for the patient.Therefore,it is significant to explore an effective treatment.ObjectiveThis study aimed to improve the medicated thread moxibustion of Zhuang folk medicine,rich traditonal Chinese medicine and improve clinical treatment effect.A randomized controlled trial was conducted in this study,one group using acupuncture combined with medicated thread moxibustion for the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis,and the othe group using acupuncture combined with suspended moxibustion.To explore the speciality and superiority of medicated thread moxibustion,and provide evidence for the clinic medicine.MethodsParticipants came from the acupuncture outpatient department of first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou university of Chinese medicine.60 participants were divided into treatment group and control group by random,of which30 paticipants in treatment group were treated by acupuncture combined with medicated thread moxibustion,and 30 paticipants in controlt group were treated by acupuncture combined with suspended moxibustion.Every Tuesday,Thusday and Saturday are the treatment day.6 times for a period of treatment,and total 4 period.The indicators were House-Brackmann(H-B)facial nerve scales(1985)and FDI scales(the somatic function and social function).Before and after the treament,these scales were used to evaluate the effect for 60 particanpts,and compared the pre-post experiment effct and the difference of two group.Evaluation included the effect time,cured and improved condition and adverse events.To explore the effectiveness and security of the treatment.ResultsA total of 60 participants came from outpatient department,of which 30 participants in treatment group and 30 patricipants in control group.There are no significant differences of two group participants' gender,age,course of disease,pre-post grades of House-Brackmann(H-B)facial nerve scales(1985)and FDI scales(the somatic function and social function)(P>0.05).The treatment effec had significant improvment(P<0.05),fpr the overall response rate of treatment group was 96.67%,and the control group was 93.33%.It indicated these two treatments all had effect for this disease,but the effect of acupuncture combined with medicated thread moxibustion is better.What' s more,compared wtih acupuncture combined with suspended moxibustion,treated by acupuncture combined with medicated thread moxibustion is more convenient and acceptable.ConclusionsThese two treatments all had effect for this disease,but the effect of acupuncture combined with medicated thread moxibustion is better,but the cured rate of treatment group was hihger.Compared wtih acupuncture combined with suspended moxibustion,treated by acupuncture combined with medicated thread moxibustion is more effctive and safety.This study also used Zhuang fold medicine for referenced,riching traditional Chinese medicine and easy to learn.The time of operation was shorter,and the cost was lower.It is significant to develop this study and explore an effective treatment for refractory facial paralysis.
